LITERACY

One of the issues facing many residents of North Richmond is that of literacy, being able to read and write; and the ability to speak English. Seventy-five percent of unemployed adults have reading and/or writing difficulties (National Institute for Literacy). One of the ways we are addressing these issues is through a partnership with the Literacy Council of Fort Bend.
Basic Literacy and ESL Tutors of all levels are needed if we plan to make a difference. We also want to help with GED preparation classes; which means we will need more volunteers in this area. Please note that there is no previous experience required and training will be provided!
