EDUCATION

No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship. – Dr. James Comer
We have adopted Pink Elementary and Juan Seguin Elementary School through a partnership with the National Adopt A School Initiative NCAASI.
The core of the program is promoting healthy school and home environments to maximize student success, providing a myriad of services designed to bridge the gap between the school, students and parents. This program is designed to find solutions to the individual needs of high-risk students. As such, mentors are placed in schools to supplement the education process and family support structures, addressing the academic and social development of public school students.
Together with teachers and parents we will help the children in North Richmond achieve their full potential. Volunteers with a heart to help children can provide academic assistance while nurturing a relationship with a child. We refer to these volunteers as Mentors or Tutors with a Purpose. We will begin our 2010/2011 school year after September 13. There is no previous experience required and training is provided!
To volunteer in this area for the Fall Semester please contact JayKay Cunningham.
